A Few Ink Sketches from the Week

Morning class,

From failed ink replacement, new brushpens to an early morning adventure along the cobbled lanes of St Ives.

Here are a few of my sketches from this week.

Fishing Boat in Porthleven

Out and about in Porthleven, Cornwall for the day, and saw this little fishing boat just waiting to be drawn!

Here’s an Urban Sketch using Micro, Muji & Tombow Pens.

Nib Test

Morning coffee in the studio and a little still life sketch. Just testing the flow with a new @diamine.inkstudio ink with this @sailorpen.1911 with the killer Fude nib.

Using a Sailor Fude De Mannen – Fountain Pen – Bamboo Green – Nib Angle 55

How NOT to use a fountain pen ink converter

My Sailor Fountain Pen had dried up, and the nib was skipping lines, so I figured it was time to try a new ink converter and ink.

Sketching a lighthouse in St Ives

It was a beautiful morning, and I needed to pop out for a few bits, so I took the opportunity to walk down to the harbour and sketch in the early sunshine before it got too hot.

Enjoy your sketching week!

SOMETIMES THE PENS REALLY CLOG, I BOUGHT A SYRINGE DESIGNED FOR FOUNTAIN PENS AND IT REALLY FLUSHES THE NIB OUT. I LOVE, LOVE FOUNTAIN PENS. I HAD TRIGGER FINGER THUMB SURGERY YEARS AGO AND STARTED USING FOUNTAIN PENS AND NOW I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT THEM. BUT I CANNOT DRAW LIKE U DO, CANNOT EVEN DRAW A STICK FIGURE. U MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY. BUT I LOVE TO DO MIXED MEDIA PAINTING. AND COLORED PENCILS. THANKS WILL!

    Hi Will,

Big grin. It created a vision of school children from years gone by under the thumbs of their draconian school masters .. and mastering those pens. I do see what the ink produces on the surface and it’s pretty cool. I might give it a try … and I’ll be prepared for a lot of mess while learning how to make it work properly. Thanks.
